VILLA WORLD OPENS STATE-OF-THE-ART AGED CARE FACILITY
QUEENSLAND-based development group Villa World has successfully ventured into the aged-care sector with a new $20 million facility at Carseldine in Brisbane.
The listed company owns 70% of the Guardian Group, which officially opens its new 90-bed facility, Raynbird Place, on Monday, September 25.
Medi Accreditation Consultants (MAC), a specialist aged care management company, holds the remaining 30% share in the Guardian Group and is responsible for operating the facilities.
The Guardian Group operates three facilities, has a further two under construction and one in the planning stage.
In total it has licenses for 565 aged-care beds and plans to continue to create more facilities as appropriate opportunities arise.
Villa World is responsible for development, project management, construction and administration of all Guardian Group's aged-care projects.
Villa World CEO Mr Brent Hailey said the Guardian Group was committed to creating environments that provided innovative and contemporary care.
"We are all aware of the huge increase in the elderly population that is going to occur in Australia in 15 to 20 years and the critical need for new aged care facilities. The uniqueness of the Guardian Group means that state-of-the-art facilities can be delivered in a timely manner," said Mr Hailey.
Guardian Group CEO Mr Bill Summers said Guardian's aim was to create 'communities within communities'.
"Residential aged care facilities should be a local community asset. With this mind we have incorporated a fully fledged coffee shop and a community meeting place here we will encourage groups such as Rotary, Lions, bridge clubs and the like to hold their meetings.
"Our facility is a place where frail elderly come to enjoy a fruitful meaningful new phase of life, still actively connected with the wider world.
"This Human Habitat approach supports each resident with the opportunity to maintain their independence, maintain and develop social, recreational, cultural and spiritual pursuits as well as have a continuing influence on the immediate environment in which they live," said Mr Summers.
Guardian has given special attention to the layout and designs of all its new facilities with small pods of around 30 beds to help residents and staff feel part of a close knit community.
Raynbird Place has already reached its 90-resident capacity but has land available to expand and cater for another 30 residents.
In addition to the new Raynbird Place facility, Guardian purchased two existing facilities and has taken over their operations - a 96-bed high and low care facility Burpengary Gardens at Burpengary and a 99-bed high and low care facility, including a recent 20-bed extension for dementia residents at Abbey Gardens, Morayfield.
Construction is already well underway on another 120-bed facility at Calamvale, which is expected to open in March next year.
Civil works have started on a site in Wembley Road, Browns Plains for a 120-bed facility and development permission for a 120-bed medium rise facility on the Gold Coast is being sought from Council.
