$90m Logan homes deal Back

Gold Cost company Villa World is set to embark on a $90 million, 317-lot residential development at Logan.

The Evandale-based listed copany bought the 43ha Anderson Street site, adjacent to the Berrinba Wetlands site, two years ago for about $7 million.

Earthworks have started and construction of the first homes is expected to start in the middle of next year.

The project will feature a mix of high-set and low-set homes.

Like Berrinba Wetlands, the Freshwater site was once used for sand mining, but has been rezoned for residential development.

Villa World plans to spend about $1.7 million on landscaping, which will include the expansion of the central waterway.

Almost 40 per cent of the site will remain parkland and a lake, and waterways will take up 4.2ha.

Villa World marketing and sales manager Dean McMahon said the environmental aspects of Freshwater were a major part of the project's appeal.

Logan City Councillor Graham Able, said the project, along with the council's 80ha Berrinba Wetlands, would be a major coup for Logan.

"Both will be fantastic and provide locals with the opportunity to have extensive parkland they can enjoy literally at the backdoor," he said.
